Ember Days are days of penitential nature that acknowledge that we are in debt to God for our existence and everything we have. We ask for God’s blessing and thank Him for the many things He has given us. These days occur during different periods throughout the year, and the Advent Ember Days occur the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday after the feast of St. Lucy on December 13. Penance such as fasting is encouraged.
Let’s use these days to implore God’s mercy and blessing for our country and, as always, for our ourselves as well. We are nothing without Him and we will not begin to see things improve until we acknowledge that, first in our own lives, and then in our nation as a whole.
Lord, have mercy!
